Sorry I’ve been away so long.
I recently went to pick up my painting ‘Big Tom’ from the RI exhibition and was persuaded to leave him at the Mall Galleries for an exhibition run by the Society of Women Artists. I hadn’t heard of it, otherwise I might have entered more. Even so, at the private viewing I was awarded the Anthony J. Lester Art Critic Award! I’m very surprised and very grateful. The exhibition is on until 10th June.

picked up Maggie

I picked up ‘Maggie’ from the Bankside Gallery yesterday where I met fellow painters including Fay Ballard who paints fantastic huge botanical watercolours. Like me, she has work in the forthcoming Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour exhibition, at the Mall Galleries which is worth a look if you’re in London during the next few weeks.
a bit more

Here’s a bit more. It’s another fairly large watercolour, about imperial size. This is the same Carlos as the one done in oils on the paintings page looking stressed and hairless, although he does in fact have a full head of hair and this version is more of a true likeness.

Here is the next stage of my painting of Carlos. I’ve just found out that it has been accepted for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition, which runs from 26th April to 13th May at The Mall Galleries, near Trafalgar Square. It’s the first time I have entered a painting for this exhibition and I’m over the moon that it has been accepted.
